I-O Data has jumped onto the USB 3.0 Express with a lot of enthusiasm and has already announced three products that support the new standard, an external hard drive, a PCI-Express expansion card and an ExpressCard. Dubbed HDJ-UT, the USB 3.0 HDD comes in 1 and 1.5TB capacities, is also compatible with USB 2.0 systems, it weights 1.6kg, and will deliver speeds of up to 139 MB/s - when on USB 3.0 of course. The two expansion cards are pretty straightforward as they both feature two USB 3.0 ports, with the USB3-PEX set to be used within desktops due to its PCIe x1 interface, while the USB3-EXC targets notebooks that have an ExpressCard slot. The 1 and 1.5TB HDJ-UT drives have price tags of around $231 and $279, respectively, while the USB3-PEX and USB3-EXC cost $69 and $93.
