As much as AMD wanted to shorten the manufacturing gap between it and Intel, the Sunnyvale company has to delay that goal and focus on simply brining its first 45nm processors as soon as possible. Hoped to make its Phenom line-up much more competitive, the AM2+ and AM3 45nm CPUs are to be introduced in several waves, throughout Q4 2008 and the first half of 2009. Now, the guys @ Expreview are claiming to have cracked AMD's codes to find the company's release schedule, a schedule which is detailed below. The first thing to pop up is the fact that the 45nm Phenom processors will get five-digit number codes, as opposed to the four-digit ones used today. The first arrivals will be the (only) 45nm AM2+ CPUs (codename Deneb) in AMD's plan, the X4 20550 and X4 20350, clocked at 3.0 and 2.8 GHz respectively. These will be followed by a number of DDR3-supporting AM3 parts, including 2.8 and 2.6 GHz Denebs and two Propus' (L3 cache-less Denebs). Later on, in Q2, AMD is expecting to introduce a 3.0 GHz Phenom X4 and three Phenom X3s codename Heka. The processors' prices have yet to be determined but hopefully they'll be low enough to heat up the CPU price war with Intel.
