Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 review De eerste mainstream quad-core processor ziet het licht |

| Toen Intel eind vorig jaar de Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core processor introduceerde, was er al meteen de belofte dat men begin 2007 met goedkopere quad-core chips onder de merknaam Core 2 Quad op de markt zou gaan komen. Die belofte is men al direct na het nieuwe jaar nagekomen met de introductie van de Core 2 Quad Q6600. Deze processor is net als de eerder geteste Extreme-variant gebaseerd op de Kentsfield kern, of beter gezegd 'kernen', aangezien de processor twee volledige Core 2 Duo chips bevat om zo tot in totaal 4 cores te komen. Het belangrijkste verschil met de QX6700 is de klokfrequentie: de nieuwe Core 2 Quad Q6600 werkt op 2.4 GHz, 266 MHz langzamer dan de eerste quad-core processor. Daarnaast is bij deze nieuwe variant de multiplier vastgezet, zodat overklokkers alleen met het verhogen van de frontside bus aan de slag kunnen gaan. De lagere klokfrequentie heeft ook gevolgen voor het stroomverbruik: waar de QX6700 nog een TDP van 130 Watt had, doet de Q6600 het met 105 Watt een stuk rustiger aan. Overklokbaarheid
De Q6600 is redelijk goed overklokbaar. Op 1,45V krijg ik mijn Q6600 stabiel op 3,4GHz en wordt deze met een Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme maximaal 60°C.
Maar de CPU kan ook perfect stabiel werklen op maar 1,15V en 2,4GHz, hierdoor produceert deze zeer weinig warmte in vergelijking met de standaard warmte productie.

Overklokbaarheid
De Overklokbaarheid van de ''Q6600 G0'' vind ik zeer goed. Hij draait nu op 3.0 ghz met een Vcore van 1.2V.
De temperatuur blijft netjes onder de 62 graden na 10 uur Prime, dus hij draait hier 24/7 op. Dit is gemeten met Core Temp en Everest. Zie http://i31.tinypic.com/34ydzsm.jpg

Overklokbaarheid
Deze processor is zeer goed overclockbaar. Voor de komst van de Q9xxx serie van intel was dit een van de overclock paradepaardjes van intel. De processor is gebakken volgens het 65nm procede waardoor deze processor (zeker in vergelijking met een Q9xxx serie processor) behoorlijk warm kan worden. Inleiding
Ik had al sinds augustus 2006 een Core 2 Duo, namelijk de E6600. Deze processor is voor mij tot op de dag van vandaag eigenlijk nog steeds toereikend, maar de overklokbaarheid van mijn exemplaar viel een beetje tegen (kreeg hem niet verder dan 3,5 GHz met stevige luchtkoeling en X38 moederbord). Ondertussen is de Q6600 gigantisch in prijs gedaald, en toen deze rond de 200 euro lag heb ik af en toe de neiging gehad om ove ... Lees meer (3 reacties ) |
