If there's no more gold in them their hills then worry not as the precious metal is found in motherboards too, on their CPU socket pins and memory slots. Typically, 5µ gold is used for boards but now ECS thought that was too little too cheap and decided to use 15Ό gold contacts for four motherboards - the Intel-powered G41T-M2 Gold and P55H-A Ultra, and AMD-based A790GXM-AD3 Gold and A785GM-M Ultra. According to ECS, 15Ό gold makes for a more durable pin plating which in term provides a better contact, higher reliability and more stability, especially if components are swapped frequently. More info about ECS' 15Ό gold motherboards can be found on the company's website.
