Who creates the most beautiful, most advanced, innovative or futuristic PC, based on an Intel Core i7 or Intel Core i5 processor? Intel challenges the modding community to participate in the Intel Core i7 Custom Desktop challenge. The winners will share prices including checks (up to $1.500), Intel processors. a Flip HD Pocket camcorder, 160GB Intel SSD's, and Intel-Atom based netbook and several other items.

Participants can register their concepts up to the 16th of November. After a pre-selection, the finalists are judged by Intel employees and industry-experts on the following five criteria:

  • Overall creativity;
  • Design creativity;
  • Technical enhancements;
  • Creativity during demonstration;
  • Future plans.

The finalists are also automatically entered in the 'People's Choice' competition. Their entries are displayed on the competition's website: www.intelcorechallenge.com, from the 23rd of November through the 7th of December. From all over the world, people can vote for their favorite 'mod'. Apart from this award, prizes are also available in the categories 'Best in Show', 'Best Mod Creativity', 'Best Lifestyle Innovation', 'Best in Country' and 'Best Video'.  The 13 winners will be announced on the 14th of December, later this year.

To participate in Intel's Core i7 Custom Desktop Challenge you have to be over 18. Residents of Belgium, Canada (apart from Quebec), Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States are eligible.
