With the Compaq Presario CQ61z, HP launches a full-blown 15,6" notebook in the price range of an average netbook; the device is to cost $399. The laptop is a special model that will only be available for a limited time (18th of October through the 19th of December this year). At this price, HP's laptop features a 2 GHz AMD Sempron M100 processor, 2 GB of memory and a 160GB hard disk. The graphics are provided by the integrated Radeon HD 4200 videochip, which supports DirectX 10.1 and Full-HD video acceleration.

The Presario CQ61z is equipped with a DVD-burner, 5-in-1 cardreader, Altec Lansing speakers and a 6-cell battery. The notebook has a keyboard with numeric pad and the screen sports an HD-ready resolution of 1366x768 pixels. HP will bundle the notebooks with Windows 7's Home Premium edition.
