Computerbase claims that Intel will release its first generation of 32nm dualcores on the 7th of January 2010. These processors, featuring an integrated GPU, will be branded 'Clarkdale' and are intended for both notebooks and desktops. This date is the opening date of the CES conference, and electronics convention held in Las Vegas on an annual basis.

The desktop versions of the new dualcore chips will be branded Core i3 and Core i5. Almost all models feature a TDP-value of 73 Watt. One model has the clock frequency of its graphics core increased, which makes the chip sport a 87 Watt TDP. Both the Core i3 and Core i5 chips feature Hyperthreading, allowing them to be recognized as a chip with four virtual cores by the operating system. The Core i3 does not have the Turbo mode. Intel has added 4 MB of shared L3 cache on these 32nm dualcores and the integrated memorycontroller is compatible with DDR3 memory of up to 1333 MHz.

Beause the new processors feature an integrated GPU, special motherboards are required to provide the motherboard's I/O panel with the image signal received from the processor. As a result, Intel will launch new chipsets, the H55 and H57. The overview below shows all models, including their recommended pricetags at the launch.

Model Clock frequency normal/turbo Graphics core Physical/virtual cores L3-cache Socket TDP Recommended price
Core i5 670 3,46 GHz / 3,73 GHz 733 MHz 2/4 4MB LGA1156 73W $284

Pentium G6950 2,8 GHz / --- 533 MHz 2/2 3MB LGA1156 73W $87

Intel has also readied a series of notebook processors. These chips will be branded Arrandale and feature TDP's ranging from 18 to 35 Watt. The mobile chips use a smaller socket with only 989 pins.
