AMD's Athlon II X3 processors available soon?

Though the first AMD Athlon II X4 processors have already been introduced about a month ago, their three-headed companions featuring the Rana codename are still nowhere to be found. Compatibility lists of motherboards, as well as BIOS-updates from manufacturers including MSI and Biostar however show that the launch of these Athlon II X3 processors won't take much longer. There will be at least five models, two of which have been given an energy-efficient indication.

The X3-series entry model is to be the Athlon II X3 400e. This chip will have a 2,2 GHz clock frequency and a specified TDP of 45 Watt. Above it, there'll be the 405e, which has a 2,3 GHz frequency on each core, while maintaining the same 45 Watt TDP. The next two models are clocked at respectively 2,7 and 2,8 GHz and have a TDP-value of 95 Watt, more than double the consumption of their slower counterparts. The topmodel will be the Athlon II X3 440, another 95-Watt processor. There's still some uncertainty with regards to the chip's clock frequency: MSI's list shows that the CPU will be clocked at 3 GHz, whereas Biostar indicates 3,1 GHz. All five models will sport 512 KB of L2 cache memory for each individual core and will not feature any L3 cache.

The Athlon II X3 series is to be released shortly, providing more details on the actual clock frequency of the Athlon II X3 440 topmodel.
