Since the launch of Intel's new generation X25-M 'Postville' SSD's, things have been relatively quiet in the SSD market. A lot of brands have already announced new series, and Super Talent is now added to that list. Their latest creation is the UltraDrive DX, developed by Toshiba. The new series of SSD's is available in capacities of 64, 128, 256 and 512 GB and use MLC flashmemory. The drives feature a SATA 3 Gbps interface and sport 128 MB of writing cache.

Super Talent claims that the UltraDrive DX series is capable of reaching speeds of up to 230 MB/s while reading and 180 MB/s when writing. An added feature is the password encryption of the drives, making the data storage more secure. The SSD's use a modern Toshiba controller and should not be affected by high 'random write' delays. The recommended pricetags for the new SSD's are $219, $439, $719 and $1649, for respectively the 64, 128, 256 and 512GB model. Super Talent reports that the drives are to become available within a week.
