Passively cooled DFI Mini-ITX Atom board
Earlier this week, DFI presented its second Mini-ITX motherboard featuring an Intel Atom processor. Unlike its predecessor, the board -branded NP100-N16C- does not require a fan to keep the system cooled down. This makes it perfetly suited for a compact silent and economic system. DFI's NP100-N16C is linked to an Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor and uses the Intel 945GSE Express chipset in combination with the ICH7M southbridge.
The Mini-ITX motherboard has room for one DDR2-400/533 memory module of up to 2 GB. A single PCI-Express x1 slot, as well as a regular PCI-slot are present on the board to provide room for expansion cards. The integrated Intel GMA 950 videochip takes care of the graphics. The NP100-N16C has both D-sub and DVI-connectors, as well as two Gigabit networkcontrollers, one PATA- and two SATA-ports, eight USB 2.0 and four serial connectors, respectively four and two through headers. Onboard HD-audio with S/PDIF in and out, as well as a CompactFlash memory slot are also present.
It's expected that the DFI NP100-N16C will become available next month.
