During the SF3D event -which takes place in Finland- ten overclockers from all over Europe have been working with the AMD Phenom II 42 TWKR processors in an attempt to maximize the clock frequency. Armed with vast quantities of both liquid nitrogen and liquid helium, as well as several Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition processors, a number of AMD 790FX-based motherboards and some Radeon HD 4890 and 4870 X2 graphics cards, the overclockers were able to increase the frequency of the processor to just over 7 GHz. The 3DMark06 world record was also beaten. Ironically enough, it wasn't a Phenom II TWKR processor which reached the record frequency, but one of the 'normal' Phenom II X4 955 BE's.
The image shows a clock frequency of 7000,4 MHz for each of the four processor cores of the Phenom II X4 955 BE. The used motherboard was a DFI LanParty UT 790FXB-M3eH7, in combination with two DDR3-1333 memory modules in dual-channel mode. The same processor lasted through a complete 3DMark06 run with a frequency of almost 6,5 GHz. By adding two Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards in CrossFireX, the final score of 38.139 points was reached, enough for a new world record. Lastly, 3DMark05 was run at a frequency of 6,67 GHz. This resulted in a respectable score of 50.017 points, exactly eight points under the current recordholder.

3DMark06: with 38.139 points a new world record
3DMark05: 50.017 points, only eight short of a new record

AMD's Phenom II 42 TWKR wasn't the processor that broke the record
