Corsair calls back Dominator GT's
Through its forum, manufacturer Corsair reports that a number of its Dominator GT DDR3-memory kits is temporarily unavailable due to a still unknown problem that occurs with the used Elpida memory chips. After complaints on several forums, Corsair investigated into the matter and were able to reproduce the problem with these so-called "Hyper" chips. Though the actual quantity of faulty modules is relatively low, Corsair reports that it is unacceptable both on behalf of its reputation and to their customers.
As a result, Corsair has already stopped the sales of the affected Dominator GT kits. Retailers have also been asked to seize the sales of the modules and send the kits that are still in stock back to Corsair. The company reports that users that experience trouble with any of the Dominator GT kits will be able to use the lifetime warranty Corsair bundles with its memory kits.
The DDR3-memory kits based on Elpida's Hyper chips that are possibly affected feature the following product codes:
- TW3X4G1600C6GTF
- TR3X6G1866C7GTF
- TR3X6G2000C8GTF
- TR3X3G2000C7GTF
- TR3X6G2000C7GTF
Corsair is currently working on a solution for the problem with the Dominator GT Modules, which'll hopefully result in the kits being available again soon.
