Several manufacturers have been starting to use higher quality components lately, both to ensure stability and to optimize the performance potential. MSI's also working with this concept: the company has announced new high-end graphics cards with the Military Grade tag. When the logo is present on an MSI-card, it meeans they've used solid cap capacitors and/or Hi-C Cap capacitors, as well as SSC-spools. Those spools are interesting because not only are they of better quality, they do not cause a buzzing noise either. Most conventional spools cause a humming sound while stressed, allowing for a passively cooled graphics card to still make noise.

Part of the Military Grade strategy, MSI has introduced two series of graphics cards. First, there are cards equipped with the Lightning-cooler, of which an earlier version was also available previously under the name Twin Frozr. This cooler will be used on basically every high-end nVidia GPU. Then there's the Cyclone line-up. The cards use a special cooler featuring extra thick 8mm heatpipes. This should significantly improve the card's overclocking potential.
