Following Intel's Socket 1366 Core i7 with matching X58 chipset, the manufacturer also introduced Core i5, based on Socket 1156. The Core i5 systems are intended for users that wish to transition from their existing Socket 775-systems to the new Core-architecture. The different versions of the Intel P55 Express chipset -as the processor uses- have already been announced; namely the P57, H55, H57 and Q55. There are plenty of rumors on the internet regarding Core i5 and the P55 chipset as well, but facts still seem rare.
Several manufacturers have already created motherboards based on the aforementioned specifications. ASUS is one of those: the company will present its new P7P55 PRO motherboard on the upcoming Computex conference. Obviously, the board is still under development, but the layout already reveals some of its specifications. The P7P55 PRO will be positioned in the Republic of Gamers (ROG)-series.

ASUS has used a blue-white color combination on the black PCB. The motherboard sports four dual-channel DDR3 memory slots and two PCI-Express x16 slots (CrossFireX compatibility is certain, SLI is still unconfirmed).
