Zalman has made an attempt to revive an old concept; the PCI cooler. This fan, to be placed under a graphics card in a PCI slot, creates an additional airflow to cool components such as a GPU or high-end raidcontroller. Zalman's new model is branded ZM-SC100 and can be placed in any PCI slot. The fan is sized 92mm and can be adjusted in speed between 1400 and 2300 RPM in three settings. The sound production varies between 18 and 27,5 dB(A). The fan is powered through the PCI slot.

Zalman claims that the ZM-SC100 is perfectly suited to run in combination with a passively cooled graphics card, since the mosfets and memory chips on such cards can become quite hot. Especially in the summer, when there's a high ambient temperature, Zalman's PCI cooler could come in rather handy. The cooler is already available in several webshops, with pricetags of between 15 and 20 Euro.
