AMD: HD4770 Media Edition with special cooler
Those who have been following the announcements regarding the Radeon HD4770 will have noticed that almost all retail cards feature a cheaper dualslot cooler than the review samples that were distributed earlier. The samples of this midrange card featured a sleek dualslot cooler that blew the hot air straight out of the case. Most partners that have announced their versions of the card have equipped it with a relatively simple heatsink with fan.
Another notable fact is that models with the simplified heatsink also feature different power provisions; some capacitors and mosfets that are on the versions with a more luxurious cooler are absent on the cheaper models. Remarkable is that the review sample featured a four-pin fan, while the retail version uses a simple two-pin plug.

The cooling capacities of both cards are quite similar; Expreview claims that the most luxurious model will only keep the card 2 to 3 degrees cooler than the other versions. The extensive power provision of the card however, will provide users with a better overclock potential. If you wish to purchase a Radeon HD4770, pay attention to the models: the most luxurious version with the stylish dualslot cooler will be branded the 'Media Edition', while the cheaper model will bare the name 'Retail Edition'.
AMD's latest partner XFX has added several versions of the HD4770 to its line-up already. Following the retail HD4770 and a model with 1 GB memory, the company now also produces a version with the improved cooling. This 'premium' version features a black PCB and will be branded XFX 4770ST D5 512 MB. The exact price of this card is still unknown, but it is likely to be released shortly.
