Yesterday, Microsoft released the last 'Release Candidate' edition of Windows 7, the successor of Vista. Officially, this release candidate is only available to a select group of people, but starting the 5th of May, the software will become available for everyone to try out. Though Microsoft seems hesitant to make any statements regarding the release date of Windows 7's final version, Acer representative Bobby Watkins reports that the software will be launched on the 23rd of October.

Acer stated this in a discussion on its new Z5600 All-in-one PC, which will be using the improved touchscreen functions that Windows 7 brings. This computer will be launched on the 23rd of October and will immediately be available with Microsoft's new operating system. Acer will provide a free upgrade to the new OS for all users that purchased a system 30 days or less prior to the launch of Windows 7.
