Eizo has launched two new monitors which are able to save a lot of energy thanks to an intelligent infraredsensor. This sensor will detect whether there's a person behind the screen or not. When there's no one detected in a radius of 120 centimeters for more than 40 seconds, the monitor will shut itself down. Eizo calls this technology 'EcoView Sense'.
Initially, the sensor will only be integrated into two models, the FlexScan EV2023W-H and the FlexScan EV2303W-T. The first is a 20" screen with a 1440x900 pixels resolution. The other is a 23" monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution. The power consumption for both models is specified at 25 Watt for the 20" model and 18 Watt for the 23" one. When the eco-mode is enabled, the screen uses nomore than 0.7 Watt.

Apart from decreasing the power consumption, Eizo also used special materials to construct these screens. The new FlexScan monitors can be recycled more properly and less metal is used. As usual with Eizo screens, ergonomics have also been thought of; the screens are mounted on a high-quality ' FlexStand' (20" model) and 'TriStand' (23" model) stand. The FlexStand can be adjusted in height up to 22.5 cm and can be rotated horizontally up to 172 degrees. The TriStand allows for only 6 cm of height adjustment, while maintaining the same horizontal rotation.
The FlexScan EV2023W-H uses a VA panel for improved viewing angles and colors. The FlexScan EV2303W-T features a cheaper TN-panel. Both monitors will be released on the 21st of May and their recommended price is expected to be about $385.
