Intel has decreased the prices of several quadcore processors and notebookchips. The manufacturer also introduces two new 45nm quadcores for its socket 775 platform. The two new quadcores are branded Q8400 and Q8400S, both feature a 2.66 GHz clock frequency. Like the other Q8000 processors, there's 4 MB of L2 cache. The difference between the two chips is that the Q8400S has a specified TDP of 65 Watt, compared to a 95 Watt TDP for the regular Q8400.

Most of the price decreases are found in the area of economical 45nm quadcores, like the Q9550S, Q9400S and Q8200S. These will be 10 to 20% cheaper. The Xeon-versions of the aforementioned chips will also drop in price. The notebookchips SP9400, SL9400 and SU9400 will become approximately 10% cheaper. The diagram shown below displays the exact price modifications, as well as the individual CPU specifications.
