SMC launches 200 Mbit/s Powerline adaptor

SMC has introduced a new Powerline adaptor to its line-up of network products for consumers and small businesses. The SMCHPAV-ETH, as it's branded, is claimed to reach speeds of 200 Mbit/s through the powerline, making it capable of streaming multimedia, IPTV and VoiP.

Because the adaptor is compatible with the Homeplug AV standard, it can easily be installed to expand existing networks. The Powerline adaptor also features Quality of Service (QoS) suppor, which makes it capable of encryption data with a 128-bit AES encryption. This feature can easily be enabled and disabled by pressing a button on the adaptor.
