Fudzilla reports that Intel's P55 chipset -to be launched with the Lynnfield quadcores in the third quarter of this year- will be significantly revised in early 2010. The website states that the P55 will then integrate the new technologies that'll be introduced with the X57 chipset.
The launch of the X57 is planned for the first quarter of 2010, combined with the Havendale processors and the Q57, P57 and H57. According to Fudzilla, these chipsets support the FIS port multiplier, NAND flash bad block management, and feature an improved user interface with detailed multi-lingual functionality (MUI). Another added technology is Braidwood, which allows motherboards to use an onboard SSD of up to 16 GB.

If Fudzilla is correct, the P55 chipset should feature these new technologies by 2010. Earlier this year, the website already spread the rumor that the LGA1156 socket would also be renewed in 2010. It's possible that the revision of both the chipset and socket is done simultaneously. Intel has not yet made any official statements regarding the matter.
