Following OCZ, Fusion-io and PhotoFast, manufacturer Super Talent presents a new solid-state-drive (SSD) based on a PCI-Express connection. The RAIDDrive, as it's branded, features 2 TB single-level cell (SLC) or multi-level cell (MLC) memory, dependant on the preferred version. In total, three different models will become available, each equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 connector. The three disks also have DRAM cache memory.
The RAIDDrive's three flavors are the ES (Enterprise Servers), WS (Workstation) and GS (Gamers). At this moment, there's still little information on these RAIDDrives. The ES-version is claimed to reach reading- and writingspeeds of respectively 1.2 GByte/s and 1.3 GByte/s. Super Talent also reports that it's possible to modify the internal RAID-configuration to RAID5, which allows for a combination of high performance and data security.
Super Talent will release more specifications and benchmarks in June, later this year. Because of this, it's quite doubtful that the SSD's will be released soon.
