Despite the economical recess, AMD is doing good business in the processor market. The launch of its 45nm generation of CPUs for desktops and servers has caused the interest in these chips to rise significantly, thus resulting in healthier financial situations for the company. AMD's Phenom II X4 900 and the X3 700 series are selling particularly well due to their outstanding price/performance ratio, combined with a relatively low power consumption. Motherboard manufacturers anticipate that AMD's worldwide marketshare in the CPU market will have risen to 30% in the second quarter of this year.
It appears the AMD is recovering from the damage Intel's 'Core' architecture has been causing the company for the past year. Recently acquired branch ATI has also been faring well, compensating for the loss AMD had been suffering.
