Last week, Thecus introduced something they like to call the world's smallest NAS device. The device, named N0204 miniNAS, has room for two 2.5" SATA hard disks, despite its small 133 x 88 x 63 mm dimensions. While retaining most of the functionalities of a larger NAS, the N0204 uses only 25 to 30% of the power that a 'regular'  twin-disk NAS would consume.

As mentioned, the N0204 has room for two hard disks. These disks can be placed in RAID 0, 1 or JBOD configurations, with added Hot-swap and Auto-rebuild compaibility. The NAS features integrated iTunes software, photo web and mediaserver with DLNA support. This allows music, images and other multimedia files to be shared over LAN easily. Apart from its Gigabit networkconnector, the small NAS also has two USB ports. Through these ports, the network functionality can be expanded by means of a wireless USB-dongle, but is also compatible with network-shared printers and external storage devices or webcams.

It's still unclear when Thecus' new NAS will be released and at which cost.
