Iomega has announced new functionalities for its StorCenter ix2 Network Drive. New are options such as remote access and peer-to-peer filesharing. The ix2 already supported media-serving, Bluetooth and video surveillance.
A short overview of the StorCenter ix2 NAS' features:

- Apple File Protocol (AFP)
For home users, the integrated UPnP- (Universal Plug and Play) and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) support means that the ix2 is able to play back all types of multimedia files such as music, images, videos and other digital content. It is also capable of storing those files. This can not only be done on laptops and desktop computers but on every compatible device in the network; including gaming consoles.
The new StorCenter supports Windows-, Mac OS- and Linux-PC's and can have up to two printers or external harddisks attached to it. The interface is available in 11 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, traditional and simplified Chinese, German and Russian). Other supported devices: uPnP AV-devices, digital media-adaptors, iTunes and PTP (i.e digital cameras and picture frames). Bluetooth compatibility requires the addition of an optional adaptor.The 1TB StorCenter ix2 Network Storage-device bears a recommended price of € 299; the 2TB version has an RRP of € 419.
