Sony expands its line of Trimaster LCD-monitors with two new models. The PVM-L2300 23-inch monitor is a broadcast-grade monitor and the BVM-L170 is a 17-inch monitor for critical evaluation applications. The latter is an addition to the BVM-L230 monitor, which is already being used in movie- and video productions

Both monitors feature a 10-bit 120Hz LCD-screen, non-linear cubic-conversion imaging technologies, 12-bits signal processing engine, optical feedback stability systems and an automatic calibration. Each of these monitors is designed to display top notch color accuracy, imaging quality and image consistency, as we would expect from monitors positioned in the industrial market.

The BVM-L170 has a full 1920 x 1080 HD-resolution, a wide viewing angle, 10-bits driver and LED backlighting. This compact screen should allow for flexible installaiton options, for example in an EIA stand using DC-power. The PVM-L2300 monitor also has the full HD resolution, as well as the 10-bits driver. This monitor is designed for broadcast- and video production, and is able to reproduce images that are equal to its counterparts from the BVM-L series, but at a much lower price. The most important difference between this monitor and those from the BVM-L series is that these models use a CCFL backlight, rather than an LED one.

Both models support multiple color standards, which include SMPTE-C, EBU, ITU-R BT.709. The BVM-L170 also supports D-Cine. A variety of source signals can be used with the monitors, ranging from analog composite to Dual-Link HD-SDI and PC-signals ranging from VGA to WUXGA through DVI-D and HDMI interfaces for the PVM-L2300 (The BVM-L170 supports VGA to Full HD).
