[CeBIT 2009] MSI shows Eclipse Plus
When MSI first introduced its Intel X58-based Eclipse motherboard, it was already mentioned that a more luxurious version would also become available at a later time. MSI has the new board on display on the CeBIT. The Eclipse Plus is the first X58 motherboard that uses nVidia's NF200 chip to create extra PCI-Express lanes for graphisc cards. This makes it possible for the board to support Triple-SLI with 3x 16 lanes. Also added is the functionality to tweak overclocks with physical buttons on the motherboard, something that can even be done during benchmarks. The Easy OC Dial, as it is called, is quite similar to the solution ASUS uses on its famous Rampage II Extreme motherboards. The onboard display of the regular Eclipse is absent, but MSI has added a smaller display between the I/O-connectors. The design of the coolers has also been completely modified, to give the board a smoother look. Naturally, the DrMOS chips that efficiently provide the processor with its power, are also present on this board.
