MSI has officially announced its latest netbook, the Wind U110 ECO. This netbook, which could already be seen on the CeBIt, is most notable for its specified battery life of 9 hours. This is possible by using an even more efficient Atom Z530 in combination with the US15W chipset. The machine comes with 1 GB of DDR2 memory but can also be expanded to 2 GB. The 10" screen has a 1024x600 pixel resolution.
MSI reports that there's an HD3200 onboard videochip in this netbook, which seems to be a mistake due to the presence of Intel's US15W chipset. This chipset already features an onboard 3D-chip, the GMA500. The other specifications of MSI's Wind U110 ECO are a 160 GB hard disk, 4-in-1 cardreader, integrated 1,3 or 2,0 megapixel webcam, three USB ports and a D-Sub connector.

Also present are Gigabit LAN, Wireless N and Bluetooth 2.0 The specified 9 hour battery lifetime can be reached with the 6-cell battery. A cheaper model will also be released, bearing a 3-cell battery which in theory should still reach over 4 hours of battery life. With the 3-cell battery, the Wind U110 ECO weighs about 1 kilo and its dimensions are 260 x 180 x 31.5 mm (WDH).
