AMD silently added two new mobility graphics cards to its line-up, namely the Radeon HD4830 and HD4860. Both 40nm chips feature specifications that are quite similar to the RV740 chip used in the desktop HD4700 cards.
The Mobility HD4840 and HD4860 both have 640 stream processors and a 128-bits memory interface. The clock frequency of the core is either 450 or 600 MHz in the HD4830 and even 650 MHz in the HD4860. There are also differences in memory between the two 40nm Mobility cards. The HD4830 Mobility is linked to GDDR3/DDR3 at 900 MHz, while the faster HD4860 features GDDR5 chips with an effective frequency of 4 GHz (quad data rate).
The calculative power of the new 40nm Mobility cards is specified at 768 GFlops for the 600 MHz HD4830 and 832 GFlops for the 650 MHz HD4860 edition. Both cards support the latest technologies, such as DirectX 10.1, UVD2 videodecoding, CrossfireX, DisplayPort and 7.1-channel audio through HDMI.
