Later this year, we are to expect the AMD Regor 45nm dual core processor, equipped with 2 MB of L2 cache. Apart from Regor, AMD seems to have another 45nm dual core processor in development, branded Callisto. It is reported that Callisto is nothing other than a Deneb chip which has two of the four cores deactivated. Because of that, the dual core processor will feature 1 MB of L2 cache and 6 MB of shared L3 cache.

Deneb, soon available as Phenom II X2 as well?

The 45nm dual core processor will be compatible with socket AM3. This means that Callisto can be used in combination with DDR3-memory in socket AM3, but will also retain its DDR2 compatibility when paired with socket AM2+. Clock frequencies and serial numbers have not yet been revealed. The chip is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
