Arctic Cooling has released a new graphics card cooler for ATI's Radeon HD4870 X2. The cooler is branded Accelero XTREME HD4870X2 and cooles both RV770 3D-chips, as well as the memory. With a total of eight copper heatpipes and an aluminum cooling block, the cooler is able to cool up to 320 Watt of heat. To speed up the process, three 92mm fans have been placed on the cooling block, each with an adjustable fanspeed of between 1000 and 2000 RPM.

According to internal Arctic Cooling tests, this alternative cooling performs quite a bit better than the reference version. When all three fans are at their maximum speed of 2000 RPM, the chips do not exceed 46 degrees Celsius. The sound production is also to be decreased by the cooler. Even at max speed, the three fans together produce only 0,5 Sone, compared to the 4,5 Sone soundpressure of the reference cooler. Accelero's latest addition weighs in at 680 grams.

Arctic Cooling provides a six-year warranty plan with its Accelero XTREME 4870X2, which will cost 53,95 Euro. This high-end graphics card cooler should hit the shelves end-March.
