VR-Zone claims that nVidia is planning to rename the nForce 780a SLI-chipset to nForce 980a SLI. The specifications of the 980a-chipset will remain unchanged. This assumption is based on the announcement of ASUS' new M4A motherboards. This announcement revealed some details about the nForce 980a SLI-chipset.

The name of the 780a SLI will be changed from NF780A-SLI-N-A2 to NF980A-SLI-A2, the first products are to be released in March.

nVidia reports that the 980a chipset supports HyperTransport 3.0, two PCI-Express x16 slots, three PCI-Express x1 slots, DirectX 10 for an IGP, twelve USB 2.0 ports, six SATA 3.0 Gbps-connectors and Gigabit Ethernet. nVidia will officially introduce the 980a SLI-chipset during the CeBIT in March.
