Samsung has announced a 1.5 TB hard disk, which will be positioned in the company's EcoGreen F2-series. According to Samsung, this line-up of harddisks sports a low energy consumption, in combination with high storage capacity, great performance and an acceptable price.

The Samsung HD153UI spins at 5400 RPM and features three 500 GB platters, a SATA 3.0 Gbps-connector and 32 MB of cache. The average seek time is claimed to be 8.9 ms. The HD153UI has NoiseGuard and SilentSeak technologies implemented. In Japan, the disk will cost approximately $ US 130,-.  Prices for the rest of the world are still unknown.
