Last year's Computex showed us an ASUS Xonar HDAV soundcard. ASUS claims that this Xonar HDAV 1.3 is the first soundcard to process Dolby TrueHD bitstream, making it the perfect soundcard for an HTPC with a Blu-ray player.
ASUS reports that this Xonar is equipped with a C-Media AV200 soundchip and comes bundled with the ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre software package. This comvbination allows users to enjoy DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and the Dolby TrueHD audio bitstream. To realize this all, C-Media has also implemented the Protected Audio Playback System (PAPS) in its chip.
The soundcard supports most graphics cards, making it possible to send both video- and audio-signals through a single HDMI-cable. The ASUS Xonar HDAV 1.3 will be available in a standard and a deluxe version. The latter is also able to put out analog 7.1-audio through a seperate card.
