Samsung NC20 netbook gets VIA processor

Samsung entered the growing netbook market a few months ago with its NC10.The company seems to have good faith in this segment of the market because it has already introduced a new netbook, the NC20. This new netbook will be first displayed during the CES in January. The most remarkable thing about the NC20 is Samsung's choice to use a VIA Nano platform with an efficient U2250 1.3 GHz processor.

When VIA's Nano platform was launched, it already became clear that these processors featured more performance per Hertz than their Atom counterparts, making Samsung's NC20 atleast as fast as many of the Atom netbooks. The NC20 is a 12.1 inch netbook that has a 160 GB harddisk and 1 GB of DDR2 memory. Its 1.5 kilograms makes it a bit heavier than most netbooks, but this is compensated by the larger screen and keyboard. 

When it comes to connectivity, the NC20 also meets the netbook standards, featuring Bluetooth 2.0, Wlan, Ethernet and a 3-in-1 cardreader. A 1.3 megapixel webcam is integrated into the screen as well. It's still unclear which operating system the netbook will use. Samsung's new NC20 is estimated to cost $642.
