Muskin bundles two 2GB memory modules with golden contact feet in the 996580X2 DDR2-memory kit. In combination with the black eight-layer PCB, the company claims that the modules will not only perform better, but are also more efficient and feature a longer lifetime than regular ones. Despite the usage of gold, Mushkin claims that the price of the DDR2-kit will not be ridiculously high and that it will offer a great price/performance-ratio.

The 996580X2 kit will be positioned in the eXtreme Performance line-up and will have clock frequencies of 800 MHz. The modules will have latencies of 4-4-4-12 at a voltage of 2.0 to 2.1V. It's expected that the kit will become available in January. Prices are still unknown.
