Micron recently introduced a number of SSD's that were to be released later this year. Techconnect reports that the launch of the C200 256GB SSD has been delayed to the first quarter of 2009. Competitors Samsung and Toshiba will launch their 256 GB SSD's this year still, providing them with an advantage over other companies.
Micron has two new series of SSD's planned, being the P200 and C200 RealSSD's. The P200 will be available in capacities of 8 GB up to 128 GB and will use Single-Level-Cell (SLC) NAND flash chips. The disk will have both a reading and writing speed of 250 MByte/s. The slightly cheaper C200 line-up will use a Multi-Level-Cell (MLC) NAND flash chip. This slightly decreases the performance of the reading and writing speed to respectively 250 Mbyte/s and 100 Mbyte/s. The C200 SSD will be released in models of 32 GB up to the earlier mentioned 256 GB.
More information on the exact release date, as well as price tags, will be released during the coming two months.
