Asus has launched a new "Revolution" line workstation based on the X58 chipset, the P6T6 WS Revolution. They boast it as "the ideal solution for a powerful workstation for Small Office usage, SOHOs and mainstream workstation users". The features on the board are impressive, among them are support for 3 way SLI or Crossfire (true x16 link) due to the 6 PCI-Express x16 slots on the board and the presence of a nForce 200 chipset.

Next to the possibility to run the most powerfull graphics solutions to date there are also two SAS (Serial attached SCSI) ports supporting raid 0 and 1, 6 SATA ports supporting raid 0, 1, 5 and 1+0, 2 external SATA ports, 8 channel audio, 2 GB LAN ports and 12 USB ports.

The motherboard also has an intelligent diagnostics system, called DIAG Led. During bootup, the Diag. LED will check key components (CPU, DRAM, VGA card and HDD) sequentially; and if an error is found, the LED next to the error device will remain lit until the problem is solved. Once it has successfully booted up, the LEDs around the ASUS brand name on the motherboard will glow brightly and vividly with a deep-blue light in a regular tempo, ASUS compare it to "steady breathing", supposed to make the motherboard seem like it is "coming to life".

Finally the board has its own operating system on board, allowing the user to boot the system up in about 5 seconds to do some basic activities, like surfing the internet, listen to MP3's, sending emails and use an instant messenger. The full features and specifications of the board can be viewed on the ASUS website.

When the board will hit the stores and what price users will pay for this advanced workstation board has not yet been disclosed.
