First XFX mainboard with Intel chipset
XFX is a name well known for production of graphics cards, however the company has recently started manufactering Motherboards as well. Occasionally you can still find a XFX motherboard based on nVidia's nForce 6 and 7 chipsets in stores. VR-Zone now informs us that in the very near future the XFX XG31i will see the light of day, XFX's first motherboard based on an Intel chipset solution. VR-Zone also states the motherboard will be positioned as an entry level solution.
The XG31i is a micro ATX motherboard and, as the name implies, is based on the intel G31 chipset with an integrated GPU in the form of the Graphics Media Accelerator 3100. There is room for a socket LGA775 processor and 2 strips of DDR2 memory. The maximum capacity that the board can handel is 4GB DDR2-800. Furthermore there is room for one PCI-Express x16 card and two conventional PCI cards. The board features 4 SATA connections and 1 PATA connection, as well as 8 channel sound. At the backplate we also find a diagnostics LED and even an external BIOS-reset button.
The rumors are that the XFX XG31i will be prices very competetively, however no one could disclose what the actual price would be.
