AMD has released a hotfix for Intel's X58-platform, branded Catalyst 8.11 Intel X58 i7 Driver. The hotfix is compatible with all ATI Radeon graphics cards that are from the X1600 series or more recent. It also includes cards from the latest HD 4800 line-up. The hotfix is to solve some problems in the games Far Cry 2, Stalker: Clear Sky and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, using both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. The following improvements were listed:

  • Performance increase in several Direct3D and OpenGL applications on the X58-platform. These enhancements will also be integrated into the next Catalyst (8.12) version.
  • Improved performance in the DirectX 9 version of Far Cry 2 on AMD CrossFire based systems.
  • Improved perfomance in the DirectX 10 version of Far Cry 2.
  • High resolution enhancements in both the DirectX 10 and DirectX 10.1 version of Stalker: Clear Sky.
  • No more image distortion in the "Black Friday" level of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

Next to the actual driver, the Catalyst 8.11 Hotfix also features the Catalyst Control Center. It can be downloaded for both Windows XP and Windows Vista from AMD's website.
