GlacialTech uses LEDs in T8 lighttube

GlacialTech has already retired the fluorescent bulb-technology, used in the conventional CCFL-lighttubes. The company has introduced the GlacialLight T8 serie of lighttubes, based on light emitting diodes (LEDs). These tubes produce less heat and will even work in ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. GlacialTech claims the tubes' lifetime to surpass 50.000 hours.

Ten models have been introduced in the T8 serie, differing in the length and amount of LEDs. They vary from 9.5 W up to 38.4 W and according to GlacialTech, they are able to produce 480 lumen (60 lumen/W flux) up to 2560 lumen (80 lumen/W flux). Because of the diversity in these tubes, some of the heavier models are perfectly suited for industrial use, whereas the lighter ones can be used by casemodders. The tubes require 90-240 V AC.
