The USB Implementers Forum, the organisation behind the USB-protocols, has announced that it will release detailed specifications of the third USB-standard soon. The specifications of USB3.0 (also known as Superspeed USB) will be revealed during the first SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference on the 17th and 18th of November.

It was already announced earlier that USB3.0 reached ten times the theoretical speed of USB 2.0, a stunning 4.8 Gbit/sec compared to 480 Mbit/sec. These speeds are achieved by using the full duplex connection, which is able to send and receive data at the same time. USB 3.0 will bring new connectors, but will also be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

Apart from the specifications, the conference will also have several demonstrations on the latest developments concerning this new standard.
