Mounting a processor cooler to an Intel socket 775 motherboard is often done with push-pins. Scythe presents the CPU Cooler Stabilizer 775, an alternative way to install the cooler without requiring the push-pins. The Stabilizer comes with a Push Pin Removal-Tool, used to remove the original push-pins. After that, the processor cooler can be equipped with a backplate and screws. Scythe reports that because of the metal construction, it's an excellent solution.
The Stabilizer can also be mounted on a Socket 478 motherboard, using a special convertor. According to Scythe, this construction also optimizes the contact between the processor and the cooler.
Scythe also reports that the CPU Cooler Stabilizer 775 is a further-developed version of the Universal Retention Kit. Several accessories have been enclosed to ensure compatibility with all kinds of coolers.
The CPU Cooler Stabilizer 775 has a recommended price of €6,90 euro. Scythe will release a similar product for the AM2(+) motherboards soon.
