Following competitor Samsung, Dell introduces a high-resolution monitor as well. Their latest addition, the SP2309W combines a 23 inch screen with 2048x1152 pixels. This means that it has a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the native ratio for HD content.
Dell's SP2309W has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness of 300cd/m2. The high-resolution monitor has a color gamma of 98%. Its 2 ms response time should allow rapidly moving images to be displayed without problems as well. Because of the higher resolution compared to a regular 22" (1680x1060) and 24" (1920x1200), this monitor is able to display more information and because of the smaller pixels, it will be harder to notice jagged edges in games.

The screen has an integrated 2 megapixel webcam and microphone. These can be connected to the computer via USB. There's a VGA, DVI and HDMI output present on the monitor. The SP2309W will become available later this month and though Dell has not yet announced an official price, it is already listed in a Canadian webstore at a cost of $420,-.
