Yesterday, Digitimes, TechConnect and Fudzilla reported that manufacturer Foxconn would discontinue the production of motherboards for its own brand. The company's sales department would have been forced to stop taking orders for certain models. Foxconn Europe released a statement today which denies all the allegations.
Owner and founder Terry Guo also reports that there is no chance that the company will stop its channel business with the consumers: "Foxconn will NEVER give up channel business, and will be the last one to leave the market. No worry about Foxconn determination in channel.".
There has been a reorganisation within the company though, the German office has been closed and the back office activities have been centralised to the European headquarters in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
In 2005, Foxconn sold approximately six million motherboards of its own brand. A year later, they reached nine million sold boards and in 2007 even ten million. The figures for this year are expected to be 30% higher. In comparison: MSI, the third largest motherboard manufacturer of Taiwan, sold eightteen million motherboards in 2007 and is expected to sell about 10% more this year.
