nVidia does not yet have its own Core i7 chipset, but thanks to a certification process, they do offer SLI support to Intel's X58 one. To obtain the license, the motherboard manufacturer has to pay $5 to nVidia for each sold motherboard. Next to this software SLI implementation, a manufacturer can also decide to place extra nForce 200 switchchips on the motherboard, something Intel did with the Skulltrail platform and ASUS with its P6T6 WS Revolution.
nVidia's partner EVGA introduces a motherboard based on the Intel X58 chipset, a first for the company since EVGA has relied on nVidia's 680i and 780/790i chipsets for the Core 2 generation. It's the first time EVGA creates a motherboard with an Intel chipset.EVGA goes all out with its Core i7 motherboard, it features six DDR3 memory slots for triple-channel DDR3 memory, three PCI-Express x16 slots, 10x SATA II and solid capacitors have been used all over the board. It also features a ten-phase power provision for the processor, making it a better solution for overclockers.

As mentioned earlier, the EVGA motherboard is able to handle both Triple SLI and CrossfireX. On the board's backplate there's 8x USB, two Gigabit LAN connectors, 7.1 onboard audio, e-SATA, firewire and PS/2. There's also room for a Clear CMOS button and an optical audio output. The price for EVGA's first Nehalem motherboard isn't known yet.
