In the world of PC's and notebooks, the most common operating systems are those by Microsoft, or Apple's Macintosh software. These two aren't the only choices however, the free Linux-distribution Ubuntu is gaining popularity as well. The Ubuntu-community has reason for a small party, the amount of users of their software has surpassed eight million.

Over the past years, we've seen several successful Ubuntu operating systems. Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn and Ubuntu 7.10 were especially popular and are both very good choices for internet and office systems. The latest version of Ubuntu 8.10, called Intrepid Ibex, has recently been launched and is free to download.
