X-bit Labs reports that ATI will launch the Radeon HD 4850 X2 soon. This card was announced by ATI in early August. The card has two HD 4850 GPU's which each have 1 GB of GDDR3 memory.

The ATI Radeon HD4850 X2 will cost anything between $350 and $399 USD. The performance of this multi-GPU configuration depends on the drivers and the application itself. It's possible that an added GPU does not improve the performance in comparison to a single GPU-setup. ATI claims that, based on the huge success of the HD4870 X2, users do not seem to be troubled by this.
