AMD has joined forces with Celsia Technologies and developed a vapor chamber-based cooling solution for high-end graphics cards. The system will be using Celsia's NanoSpreader, a copper two-fase vapor chamber which holds pure water in a vacuum.

Joe Formichelli, Celsia's CEO, describes the advantages of the solution: "Contrary to the existing thermal modules that use heat pipes, our two-phase NanoSpreader is in direct contact with the heat source, making valuable heavy plates unnecessary".

Neither of the companies has mentioned an introduction date for the enw cooler, Tech Connect expects it to be in the first half of 2009.
