A few weeks after the introduction of the GeForce 9400GT with GDDR2 memory, several manufactuers have decided to release GDDR3 models as well.

First theres Sparkle, which has announced four GeForce 9400GT models equipped with 512 MB GDDR3 memory. The four versions will consist of two passive and two actively cooled ones. Sparkle claims that the GeForce 9400GT with GDDR3 performs about 10% up to 20% better in 3DMark Vantage, in comparence to the GDDR2 version.

Zotac has added two of the budget cards to its line-up. Zotac also introduces one card with a fan and another with a passive cooling solution. The passive version is easily recognized by Zotac's typical addition of the suffix "Zone Edition".

XFX' GeForce 9400GT GDDR3: one or two versions?

XFX has announced only one GeForce 9400GT with GDDR3 memory. The press image however, shows two different cards, both actively cooled.

Zotac is the only company that has released the specifications of its cards, but it's likely that the clockspeeds of other manufacturers will be quite similar, if not the same. Zotac's GeForce 9400GT has its core clocked at 550Mhz, the stream processors at 1400 MHz and a memory frequency of 1400 Mhz as well. The memory bus is still 128-bit and the amount of stream processors remains 16 as well. The graphics cards feature the conventional DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, nVidia PureVideo, PhysX and CUDA support.

Prices for these GeForce 9400GT's with GDDR3 memory have not yet been mentioned, nor have release dates.
